The Five Questions We Get Asked Most
Some people still think of quilts as their grandmother's quilt.
We love the craftsmanship.
We just updated the aesthetic.
Minimalist. Natural. Substantial. Designed for modern homes and everyday living.
If you're curious about why we chose linen, why we designed our quilt the way we did, or why we're constantly talking about natural materials, these are the answers.
Why Linen?
Because once you've experienced good linen, it's hard to forget.
Linen isn't slippery. It isn't fuzzy. It isn't synthetic.
It's soft in a completely different way. Dry to the touch. Relaxed. Substantial.
Somehow cooling and comforting at the same time.
It breathes beautifully, regulates temperature naturally, and develops character with age instead of wearing out. The more you live with it, the more inviting it becomes.
For some people, it's just another fabric.
For the rest of us, it's a mild obsession.
We happen to fall into the second camp.
Why A Quilt?
Because life doesn't happen exclusively in bed.
The textiles we reach for most often aren't hidden away in closets. They're draped over sofas, folded across reading chairs, and pulled close during movie nights and slow Sunday mornings.
We wanted something versatile enough to live throughout a home.
A quilt felt like the natural answer.
Substantial enough to feel comforting.
Refined enough to leave out.
Beautiful enough to become part of the room itself.
Why This Size?
Because we designed it for real life.
We didn't set out to create a king-sized comforter.
We set out to create the quilt we wished we could find.
Large enough to wrap yourself in.
Perfectly proportioned for a sofa.
Elegant at the foot of a bed.
Easy to move from room to room.
A size that earns its place in everyday living.
Why This Construction?
Because details matter.
Every Peplos quilt begins with a 100% linen shell and natural cotton batting.
Never synthetic fills.
Never plastic pretending to be luxury.
The linen is stone washed for softness. The quilting is hand sewn. The materials were selected for their breathability, longevity, and ability to age beautifully.
We chose these materials because they're the ones we would want in our own homes.
And because shortcuts have a way of revealing themselves eventually.
Why This Price?
Because quality materials cost more.
Natural fibers cost more.
Hand sewing takes longer.
Slow production is slower.
There's no clever answer here.
We could reduce costs by using synthetic fills, lower-quality materials, or faster production methods.
Many companies do.
We chose not to.
Our goal was never to create the cheapest quilt.
Our goal was to create one you'll still reach for years from now.
One that softens with time.
One that feels just as relevant ten years from now as it does today.
The Real Answer
Maybe all five questions lead back to the same place.
We started Peplos Linen because we were tired of seeing synthetic materials marketed as luxury.
The prices looked luxurious.
The materials did not.
So we built something different.
A quilt made from natural materials.
Designed with intention.
Created for modern homes.
And crafted for people who care about what they bring into them.
If you've ever flipped over a quilt to see what it's actually made from, questioned why so many "luxury" textiles contain plastic, or found yourself unexpectedly fascinated by linen, construction methods, and natural fibers...Welcome.
